Assassins are trained to sneak in without notice, kill a target without repercussion, and leave before anyone is made aware of the deed. In order to execute such a perfect assassination these rogues must learn to use poisons, disguises, ambush tactics, and to master the ability to impersonate those that would be close to the target. Like all Rogues, Assassins are skilled jacks-of-all-trades who specialize expertly in a host of skills and a dexterous, dishonorable fighting-style. However, Assassins are less dependent on having allies to provide backup due to their mastery of infiltration, and their keen ability to fell an opponent in one strike. This ability to assassinate a target before it is made aware of the rogue’s threat is what defines the Assassin.

Assassins in Alleticia

Assassins learn their arts from the shadowy assassin’s guild, known as The Root, or one of its defected members. The Root would never train an individual it believed would use its skill in ways contrary to the goals of The Root and petitioning the group for membership is impossible due to their bizarre initiation rights. The Root views all trained assassin’s as property of the Root, and will send its best killers after defector’s and those who use their assassin’s talents to make earnings on the side, outside of the dark eyes of the organization. Recently Tiarra Su, a high-ranking member of the organization has been reaching out and training AAC adventurers in the basics of the assassin’s arts. The Root lets these adventurers go on living. Tiarra’s goal’s are unknown in the regard.

Restriction: All Assassins are required to train under the Root or one of its assassins. It is the player’s choice if their character still actively works for the organization, or if the are a defector on the run from its killer-agents. The player can also choose to be trained by Tiarra Su without the normal repercussions, but a player trained in this way cannot advance beyond 5th level in this archetype.

Assassin Features

Level 3

Bonus Proficiencies – The Assassin learns to use poisoners tools and become adept at infiltrating via the art of disguise.

Assassinate – The Assassin becomes deadliest when it gets the drop on its enemies, even striking with critical efficiency against targets which are surprised.

Improved Sneak Attack – The rogue adds additional damage on their attacks when fighting dirty.

Level 9

Infiltration Expertise – The Assassin can spend 25 gold pieces and seven days to create an entirely unique identity, backed up by acquaintances, business ties, and documentation.

Improved Sneak Attack – The rogue adds additional damage on their attacks when fighting dirty.

Level 13

Impostor – The Assassin can unerringly mimic the speech, writing, and behavior of any other person. It takes 3 hours of study to do so, but after this time, the ruse is indiscernible to a casual observer.

Improved Sneak Attack – The rogue adds additional damage on their attacks when fighting dirty.

Level 17

Death Strike – The Assassin becomes a master of instant death. When the assassin makes a critical attack due to its assassinate feature, the strike is twice as lethal.

Improved Sneak Attack – The rogue adds additional damage on their attacks when fighting dirty.
